Religion has always been a significant part of almost any culture all over the world. It has provided its followers with the answers for questions concerning human existence and the signs of gods in the universe. It is still playing such an important role in the modern societies? I strongly believe that the need for religion is as strong as it used to be in the past.
To begin with, the world religion can be applied to many beliefs not only to the most traditional ones. People have created a lot of religious movements that were compatible to the times they have lived in. Therefore, religion can adopt a great deal of different forms apart from these we already know. In the nineteen century A. Comte was so amazed with the new inventions of science and technology that he invented his own 'religion of human mind'. Nowadays people are also coming up with the ideas of brand-new cults, gaining hundreds of believers.
Secondly, the world we all live in is very unsteady itself, making us face many difficulties and deal with numerous problems. That is why we do need some guidelines which will show us what is important and what we do not have to care for. I my opinion only religion contains such a variety of basic rules, moral codes and reflection on the human everyday life.
Opponents argue that the time for religion has finished, because people start trusting only their minds. That can be the truth, but only to a certain extent. Human beings are surrounded by a good number of events. It follows that they are not often able to explain what has exactly befallen to us.
In conclusion, in my view the need for religion is not diminishing in our time. On the contrary, we are changing the forms and visual aspects of our beliefs but the core issue of searching for something more complex than a human being still remains the same.
